As the international symbol for species
conservation, The Giant Panda (Ailuropoa
melanoleuca)is a much loved icon and
national treasure for the peoples Republic
of China.

Native to the high mountainous regions of
China they are under threat of extinction
due to habitat loss and a naturally slow
breeding rate.

Zoos South Australia is participating in the
international breeding program for Giant Pandas with the arrival of Wang Wang &
Funi to Adelaide Zoo. This breeding pair
will continue important genetic diversity
to the international insurance population
and will be the first to take up long term
residency in Australia.

Part proceeds from the sales of Wang Wang
& Funi products will go towards helping
protect the Giant Panda from extinction.
